Director of Science

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our team as Director of Science. The successful candidate will have industry experience and the business acumen to research, source, screen, and diligence exciting climate investment opportunities for our fund. The Director of Science will conduct initial screening, based on science/technology, financial, and market needs, in order to deliver comprehensive diligence and deep analysis of the deal’s technology, business model, market, and finances. The due diligence process will include a review of scientific papers, patent applications, and commercial data; interviews conducted with key opinion leaders and domain experts to assess unmet needs and relative strengths of the product/technology to competition; in addition to assisting with the preparation of the investment thesis and materials.

As part of their role, the Director of Science will also work with the industry and academic partners of the firm, as well as developing their own network to source promising new leads for investment opportunities. The successful candidate will work on multiple projects in a collaborative and fast paced environment, including preparing board members for board meetings and working with our portfolio companies to add value as they grow and scale.


  • Highly motivated and talented individual with a passion for cutting edge science and technology, and a deep technical background (PhD degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or biochemistry)
  • Prior industry experience (minimum of 2 years). 
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to translate complicated scientific and technical info for a non-technical audience. 
  • Strong communicator in both written and spoken English a must. Other European languages spoken (e.g. French, Central or Eastern European languages) and international work experience is highly advantageous.
